What is the Rising Wedge Pattern?

The rising wedge is characterized by price action forming higher highs and higher lows. However, the support line beneath the price tends to be steeper than the resistance line above, signaling that each upward move is weakening. Traders consider this divergence a warning sign of fading bullish momentum.

As price tightens within this wedge, volume often decreases, and volatility shrinks. This compression eventually leads to a breakout—most commonly to the downside.
